Carpet care

At Hampton Flooring Center Flooring, we recommend frequent care and maintenance to keep your new carpet looking beautiful and feeling plush. We understand you don’t necessarily have a lot of time to invest in upkeep, but following some simple and easy care and maintenance tasks will ensure the longevity of your carpet.

Establishing a preventative maintenance routine is a great first step. Remove outdoor shoes before walking across your carpet so you don’t track dirt inside the house and use a good quality carpet pad for additional support. Create a care and maintenance routine that also works with your current cleaning schedule. For most of our products, daily to weekly vacuuming with a manufacturer-approved appliance is really all you need to keep your carpet looking and feeling great. Professional cleaning

In addition to frequent vacuuming, it is important to clean your carpet on a regular basis. Most carpet warranties require cleaning every 12-18 months. Check the warranty for your carpet and make sure to save receipts as proof.

Shaw warranties require the homeowner be able to show proof of periodic cleaning by hot water extraction (commonly called "steam" cleaning) by a professional cleaning service or do-it-yourself system, using equipment that is certified under the Carpet and Rug Institute's Seal of Approval program. Shaw strongly recommends cleaning systems that have achieved the Gold Level Performance in the CRI Seal of Approval. Click here for a list of Gold Level Performers.

For professional floor cleaning, we recommend Absolute Best Tile and Carpet Cleaning.

Stain removal

Sometimes, your carpet is prone to stains—no matter how careful you are. Fortunately, many of our carpet is sold with stain-resistant technology built right into the fibers!

Before diving in and tackling any spills, stains, or messes on your new carpet, first establish whether the stain is oil-based or water-based. Then, consult with the manufacturer regarding stain removal guidelines. Some stains simply wipe away with a cleaning cloth; others will require a more comprehensive approach. It is always best to consult with the manufacturer before taking further action. If you have Shaw Floors carpeting, we recommend using R2X Carpet Stain & Soil Remover.
