Hardwood care & maintenance

Protect your flooring - and your investment!

Hardwood floors are manufactured from genuine wood and require a proper care and maintenance routine. In order to extend the lifespan of your hardwood floors, it is important to use the correct cleaning products and methods.

Everyday care and maintenance

Sweep, vacuum, or dry mop your hardwood flooring on a regular basis. Make sure to check with your manufacturer’s care and maintenance guide, in addition to their list of approved vacuum cleaners, before caring for your new floors. If your flooring needs more than just a dry surface clean, use a manufacturer-approved cleaning solution and follow their guidelines. If you find your floors need a periodical deep cleaning, always hire a local professional floor cleaning company. Life happens, which means you'll more than likely need to deal with the occasional spill or stain. It's important to learn how to deal with these without damaging your flooring.

Most common spills, like liquids or pet accidents, will wipe away easily, especially on hardwood floors built with stain- and scuff-resistant technology. Wipe away liquid spills immediately, as hardwood flooring is not water-resistant. For other common stains like wax residue or nail polish, consult with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
